Oman's 2022 shrimp production hits 2,799 tonnes
Oman's Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources has reported that the country's shrimp production reached approximately 2,799 tonnes in 2022.
This figure includes artisanal and aquaculture fishing valued at over RO7 million.
The country's shrimp fishing season started in the beginning of September and will continue for three months.
Highlighting regional productivity, Ibrahim Abdullah al Qartoubi, Assistant Director General of Fisheries in Al Wusta, informed that the governorate led in shrimp production in 2022, accounting for 90% of total catch.
