Bulgaria may face dairy price hike in October

The association of dairy processors in Bulgaria has announced it is expecting an increase in the prices of dairy products in October following the rise of raw material prices by 15% in September.

"The most important thing for people to understand is that there is no milk in Bulgaria. There is no farming. In Europe, there is a shortage of raw material," said the association's deputy head, Simeon Prisadashki.

He refused to comment on how the increase of the price for raw material in September would affect the prices for the end users. He added, however, that the prices in his company will increase from October.

"There was an increase of prices in September, based on the prices in August. Actually, the tendency for price hike started in August," Prisadashki said.

According to the head of the Bulgarian Association of Agricultural Producers, Hristo Tsvetanov, the fruits and vegetables also increased by 10% in September. He believed that the reason was the reflux of the vegetables production.
