Fiji pushes efforts to cut country's dependence on dairy imports

Fiji's Ministry of Agriculture is intensifying efforts to reduce the country's reliance on imported dairy products, valued at approximately $90 million in the last fiscal year.
In a move to support local production, the ministry has allocated $110,000 to boost the commercialisation of dairy farming.
Agriculture Minister Vatimi Rayalu announced that 21 dairy farmers have already received assistance in the form of fencing materials and dairy sheds. This, he said, will allow them to expand their farms and supply milk to the formal market.
