24% drop in Spain's pork exports in H1 2022

Spain's pork exports decreased 24% between January and June this year, with a 50% drop in exports destined for China.

In the first half of 2022, the country exported 933,526 tonnes of meat and meat products, representing a decrease of 23% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Pork continues to be Spain's main meat exported with 89.2% of the total, followed by poultry meat (3.8%) and beef (1.74%).

Between January and June, a total of 832,799 tonnes of pork and preparations were exported. Meanwhile, Spain's exports to China have decreased by more than half, while exports to the Philippines, Japan and South Korea have doubled.
