Indian soymeal exports to fall next season

India's soymeal exports are likely to fall 12.5 percent to 3.5 million tonnes in the season starting in October as domestic demand is expected to pick up as the poultry industry plod its way towards recovery, Rajesh Aggarwal, chairman of Soybean Processor's Association of India said Monday (Sep 11).

Bird flu outbreak in a major poultry state of Maharashtra and some other regions early this year had cut domestic demand for feedstock, thus leaving more meal for exports this season.

Rajesh Aggarwal, chairman of Soybean Processor's Association of India, said exports of about 4 million tonnes this season ending Sep 30 were helped by an excess of carryover stock in the region of 600,000-700,000 tonnes.
