Russian Fishery Co. to build pollock-processing factory in Far East

The Russian Fishery Co. (RFC) said its joint venture with DV Invest LLC-Russian Pollock LLC-is set to build a fish-processing factory in the Russian Far East in October.

The main products of the first phase of the factory-which will have a capacity of more than 100 tonnes of finished products per day-will be pollock fillet and mince.

The second phase is planned to produce high-quality, affordable deep-processed products from Russian fish for the Russian market, as well as China and other Asian markets.

The first phase of the fish-processing factory is projected to start operation in or before 2021.

The 1.5-billion-ruble (US$21.3-million) factory, named Russian Pollock, is planned to increase its capacity by about 20% after 2021 and produce "ready to cook" and "ready to eat" products.

"The new factory will be furnished with modern equipment that will ensure high-quality products", said RFC CEO Fedor Kirsanov.

RFC said the Russian Pollock factory is in support of the state programme that promotes the construction of fishing vessels and fish-processing facilities with quotas for the harvesting of aquatic biological resources provided for investment purposes.

After the commissioning of the Russian Pollock factory, RFC will receive additional quotas for the harvesting of 14,500 tonnes of pollock and herring.
