Russia's Jul-Sep grain export up 20% on-year

 

 

Between July 1 and September 4, 2013, Russia's grain export totalled 6.417 million tonnes, 20% more than in the corresponding period last year.

 

During August, Russia's grain exports totalled 3.48 million tonnes, up from 2.75 million tonnes exported in August 2012 and 2.4 million tonnes exported in July this year, the federal statistics service said.

 

The exports included 3.041 million tonnes of wheat, 404,000 tonnes of barley, 24,000 tonnes of corn and 11,000 tonnes of other minor grains.

 

The agriculture ministry expects this year's grain harvest to rise to 88-90 million tonnes from 71.7 million tonnes in 2012 when crops were damaged by drought.

 

In 2012-13 marketing year, Russia's grain export dropped to 15.69 million tonnes from 27.2 million tonnes in the previous marketing year. In the current marketing year, July 2013-June 2014, the agriculture ministry expects Russia's grain exports to rise to 18-20 million tonnes.
