The Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation stated on September 2 that the country has to produce 85-90 million tonnes of grains in 2011.

Minister Elena Skrynnik confirmed the previously announced forecast, that in the current year, Russia's grain production will total 60-65 million tonnes of grains. According to her, the country needs grain production increase in the following year for stabilisation of the present situation.

That is why agrarians of Russia plan to sow winter crops throughout 18 million hectares, and spring crops-throughout 30 million hectares, the minister added. Thus, if Russian agrarians reach the index of nearly 50 million hectares, then the country will have 80 million tonnes of grains in the future year.
