India oilmeal exports fall 50 percent in August
India's oilmeal exports in August fell 50 percent on-year to 214,807 tonnes due to weak demand and lower crushing, the Solvent Extractors' Association of India said Friday (Sept 4).
Soymeal exports in August fell sharply to 127,299 tonnes from 205,890 tonnes, while rapeseed meal exports declined to 61,668 tonnes from 149,999 tonnes.
The total oilmeal exports during the April-August period fell 57 percent to one million tonnes, the trade body said.
In the April-August period, China bought 156,892 tonnes of oilmeals, mainly rapeseed meal - 137,637 tonnes - and a small quantity of soymeal.
Oilmeal exports to Vietnam, another major importer, fell sharply to 269,328 tonnes from 581,435 tonnes.
Exports to South Korea, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand also fell during the period, the trade body said.
