Provimi expands in North America

The Provimi Group, a global leader in the animal nutrition business, has further strengthened its position in the United States with the acquisition of two Californian companies, a premix/base mix and a nutritional supplements producer. 

Provimi's subsidiary NANCO (North American Nutrition Companies) and AFS (Associated Feed and Supply), a regional supplier of minerals, dairy ingredients and specialty feeds, have jointly acquired Nutrius LLC and Virtus Nutrition LLC, two companies strategically located in the agriculturally rich San Joaquin Valley in California. 

Nutrius is a major premix and base mix manufacturing company located in Kingsburg, California, and primarily focused in the Californian market. Virtus Nutrition is an international manufacturer and distributor of rumen-protected fats located in Corcoran, California, and represented throughout North America and in several other countries. Together, the companies had sales of EUR56 million in 2005 and employ about 80 people.

Both NANCO and AFS view this acquisition as an opportunity to expand their business in the important Californian dairy market. Virtus' unique technology and products, along with the market leadership represented by Nutrius' manufacturing, fits very well into the strategic growth plans of NANCO. 

The Provimi Group is active worldwide in all types of animal nutrition and is a leader in all markets where it is present. It employs almost 9,000 people and has sales of EUR1.6 billion. Provimi has 100 production centres in some 30 countries and exports to over 100. The group also manufactures nutritional products and provides technical support for all species, including ruminants, poultry, swine, horses, fish and pets.
