Oman's International Fish Feed Company partners with Skretting to boost domestic aquaculture sector

Oman's International Fish Feed Company (IFFC) has forged a strategic partnership with Skretting, a Netherlands-based subsidiary of Nutreco, a global leader in aqua feed and animal nutrition solutions to significantly boost Oman's fisheries and aquaculture industries by leveraging Skretting's renowned expertise in feed and nutrition, Muscat Daily reported.

IFFC, headquartered in Duqm, is gearing up for commercial aqua feed production by the end of 2024 with an annual capacity of 31,200 metric tonnes. This ambitious project aligns with Oman Vision 2040 and the United Nations' Strategic Development Goals, focusing on economic growth and environmental sustainability.

As global demand for sustainable seafood rises, the aquaculture industry faces challenges, including providing optimal diets for marine species while minimizing environmental impacts. IFFC aims to address these challenges by introducing innovative, sustainable, and efficient aqua feed solutions.

Nutreco's extensive experience in animal nutrition has earned it a global reputation. The alliance between IFFC and Skretting aims to combine the expertise of both entities to develop pioneering aqua feeds that enhance the vitality, growth, and ecological sustainability of marine species in Oman.

IFFC will also benefit from Skretting's expansive research and development facilities, global network, and diverse ingredient portfolio. The collaboration will focus on refining the nutritional content of aqua feeds, exploring new ingredients, and adopting sustainable sourcing practices.

Simultaneously, IFFC will serve as Skretting's exclusive distributor within Oman, providing innovative and sustainable feed products to the sultanate's fish and shrimp farming community.

Hay Kleuskens, Director of Nutreco for the Middle East and Africa, and Salim al Amri, CEO of IFFC, expressed their collective vision for the partnership, aiming to redefine aquaculture nutrition, innovate in feed solutions, and champion industry sustainability.
