Eighty-three ASF outbreaks reported in Russia from start of 2022 to August 15
From the start of 2022 to August 15, 83 outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) have been reported in Russia: 44 in domestic swine and 39 in wild boar, according to a review by the Information and Analytical Center of Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision.
The most outbreaks have been detected in the Kostroma region, according to the survey. Since the beginning of the year, there have been 10 ASF outbreaks in domestic pigs in the Kostroma region and eight outbreaks of ASF in wild boars.
The majority of outbreaks in domestic pigs were detected in private subsidiary farms. In addition, an ASF outbreak was detected on the production site of pig-breeding enterprise Shuvalovo in the Kostroma district. All 6,000 pigs kept on this fattening facility were culled.
