Ukraine harvests 67% of grains, leguminous plants' acreage forecast

 

 

Ukraine harvested grains and leguminous plants throughout the areas of 10.04 million hectares or 67% of the forecast as of September 4, 2012.

 

The produced volumes totalled 25.82 million tonnes of grains with the average yield of 25.7 centners/hectare (c/ha), declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

 

On the same date of 2011 agrarians managed to harvest 34.89 million tonnes of grains throughout 11.51 million hectares, with the average yield of 30.3 c/ha.

 
In particular, as of the reporting date of 2012 agrarians already harvested 113,700 tonnes of buckwheat throughout the areas of 113,400 hectares (40%). The average yield totalled 10.0 c/ha.

 

Besides, as of the reporting date, agrarians harvested corn for grain throughout the areas of 92,200 hectares (2%). The production volumes totalled 303,500 tonnes, the yield - 32.9 c/ha.

 

Agrarians harvested 107,900 tonnes of millet throughout the areas of 92,100 hectares (54%), with the average yield of 11.7 c/ha. As of the reporting date, Ukraine harvested 782,700 tonnes of sunflower seed throughout 627,800 hectares (13%) with the yield of 12.5 c/ha.

 

Ukraine harvested soy throughout 106,400 hectares, and produced 159,000 tonnes, the yield totalled 14.9 c/ha. Besides, Ukraine started field works to prepare the soil for planting of winter crops. As of the reporting date, agrarians processed the areas of 8.61 million hectares (94% of the plan). Agrarians planted winter rapeseed for the harvest-2013 throughout the areas of 730,500 hectares (78% of the forecast).
