Brazil's August corn exports total US$228.4 million

Brazil's corn exports totalled US$228.4 million in August up from US$119.80 million from the same period last year, according to figures out Monday (September 3) from the Brazilian Development Ministry Foreign Trade Department (Secex).

About 1.353 million tonnes were shipped, up 30 percent on the 1.039 million tonnes of July and 126 percent on the 595,700 tonnes compared August 2006.

The average price of corn exported in August was US$168.80 per tonne, against US$119.80 per tonne in August 2006.
