Brazil's pig slaughter falls 1.6% in Q2, 2023

 

 

 

Brazil's pig slaughter fell by 1.6% in the second quarter of 2023, compared to the same period last year, according to the preliminary results of the Livestock Production Statistics released last month by the IBGE.

 

Compared to the first quarter of this year, pig slaughter fell by 1.1%.

 

The preliminary results show that the total number of pigs slaughtered in the second quarter of this year was 14.00 million.

 

The accumulated weight of pig carcasses reached 1.31 million tonnes, down 0.3% compared to the second quarter of 2022 and up 2.0% compared to the first quarter of 2023.
