China's Guangxi exports shrimp products to the EU
Haishitong Food Co Ltd, an aquatic product company based in Fangcheng, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, has recently exported its shrimp products to France. The products had passed the strict quarantine and inspection procedures of the French authorities before being allowed into the local market.
This is the first time aquatic products of Fangcheng is being shipped to the EU, and also a first for Guanggxi following EU's imposition of import restriction on China's animal-based products in July 2004, and following the introduction of a set of new food safety regulations by the EU on Jan 1 this year.
The EU's food safety standard is one of the most stringent in the world. China's implementation of stricter food monitoring measures and the relevant authorities' efforts to assist export enterprises such as Haishitong in raising food quality, has helped the country to regain the confidence of some foreign buyers of its animal-based food products.
