Taiwanese Businessman Buys Pig Farm In Australia
A pig farm once part-owned by former Australian prime minister Paul Keating has been sold to a Taiwanese businessman, a company official said Thursday.
Parkville Piggery in the north of New South Wales state was one of three farms bought for an undisclosed sum by Taiwanese multimillionaire Dr. Denis Jen following an extensive marketing campaign in Australia and abroad.
Singapore-based Dr. Jen already has a foothold in Australia's pork industry as owner of the processed meats business, Darling Downs Foods.
Mike Austin, director of KR Farms Pty. Ltd. - which has been set up to manage the three farms - said the properties were purchased to ensure continuity of supply for Darling Downs Foods. Parkville is a fully stocked and licensed piggery that carries 2,400 sows.
