Australian Live Cattle Exports Fall In July

 

Contrary to the increased exports in May and June, Australian live cattle exports in July totalled 56,005 head, which is a 13% decline on the same period last year (64,627 head). Exports for the first seven months of 2004 have dropped 22% on last year to 364,851 head.


Indonesia was again the largest destination for Australian cattle, taking 33,857 head, followed by Malaysia (8,869 head) and Jordan (3,562 head). After a 12-month high of 14,000 head in June, July exports to the Philippines dropped sharply to only 2,673 head, plunging 77% from the same period last year.
