Illegal shipment of 7,500kg of frozen beef seized in Mekong, Thailand

A military river patrol seized 7,500 kilogrammes of frozen beef after the shipment was smuggled across the Mekong into Thailand on August 31.

Nine smugglers, all Lao nationals, were arrested. They were spotted moving across the river on a boat to a spot near Napo Noy community in Muang district, according to a military commander.

Upon apprehending the smugglers, military personnel found and seized 375 packs of frozen beef, each weighing 20kg - 7.5 tonnes in total.
