Lithuania's poultry output grows, local sales slump

Lithuania's poultry production and exports to the EU rose in the first half of this year against on-year, but local sales fell, the Agricultural Information and Rural Business Center said Tuesday (Aug 31).

According to them, poultry production in the first half totalled 35,460 tonnes, up 16% from 30,560 tonnes in the same period last year.

Lithuanian companies boosted their first-half poultry and poultry product exports to EU markets by 31.8% to 11,450 tonnes, while exports to third countries slumped by 52.8% to 423.81 tonnes.

Local producers saw their poultry and poultry product sales in the domestic market fall by 2.5% to 29,350 tonnes. Poultry product sales alone went down by 22.3% to 6,640 tonnes.
