Ukraine to have 43 million tonnes grain in 2006/07

 

 

The amount of grain on offer in Ukraine in the 2006/07 marketing year will be about 43 million tonnes, according to the agriculture ministry.

 

The agriculture ministry expects 2006 grain harvest at 38 million tonnes in bulk weight, the same as last year.

 

In addition the amount of grain left over from the previous marketing year was 3.35 million tonnes, including 1.94 million tonnes of wheat. Also 2.7 million tonnes, including one million tonnes of wheat, is being held by the population.

 

The agriculture ministry said 38.5 million tonnes of grain will be used in the 2006/07 marketing year. This includes 6.5 million tonnes, including 5 million tonnes of wheat, for milling purposes, 3.25 million tonnes for seeds, 14.25 million tonnes for feeding purposes, and 13 million tonnes for export.
