Ukraine ships 1.356 million tonnes grain in August 1-28
In August 1-28, Ukraine exported 1.356 million tonnes of grain, mostly wheat.
The former Soviet republic exported about 1.2 million tonnes of grain in July. UkrAgroConsult said in a report the August exports included 612,900 tonnes of wheat, 511,700 tonnes of barley and 206,300 tonnes of corn.
Ukrainian wheat went mostly to Spain, Egypt and Tunisia, its barley to Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt and its corn mostly to Egypt, Israel and Algeria, the consultancy said.
UkrAgroConsult added that an additional 1.1 million tonnes of grain, including 508,000 tonnes of wheat, 475,000 tonnes of barley and 108,000 tonnes of corn were likely to be exported in the near future.
Wheat and barley traditionally dominate Ukrainian grain exports in the first few months of the marketing season, which runs from July-June. Ukraine exported 21.8 million tonnes of grain in 2011-12.
