Romania's 2012 wheat export almost halved due to drought
Due to drought, Romania's wheat export this year will nearly halve as shipments will be cut to 1.3 million tonnes from two million tonnes it shipped in 2011.
"Estimates made so far show this year we will export around 1.3 million tonnes out of 4.7 million tonnes of overall production. The last three years' average was 5.3 million tonnes (of total production - editor's note). This year's exports are much lower than last year", Agriculture Minister Daniel Constantin explained.
The minister added Romania last year shipped two million tonnes of wheat out of the six million tonnes it produced.
