Argentina approves wheat exports

The Argentine government has approved an additional 1.44 million tonnes of 2007/08 wheat for export as world wheat prices eased.

The country, one of the world's five leading wheat suppliers, banned wheat exports last year as rising demand from international markets stoked inflation at home, posing supply challenges in Brazil, a major customer of Argentinean wheat.

The government in recent months has gradually allowed shipments of wheat to export markets.
