Sri Lanka Plans To Increase Milk Production
The National Livestock Development Board (NLDB) in Sri Lanka will introduce practical measures aimed at a five-fold increase in milk production.
Milk production under the Board is presently four million liters per year. NLDB chairman Ariyaseeli Wickremanayake says this output amounts to only 20 percent of national milk production.
The Board will import milk cows from India to help achieve this aim. The Amul Company of India has agreed to provide assistance in this regard.
