Romania harvests record high wheat and rapeseed crops

Romania harvested 7.4 million tonnes of wheat and 1.1 million tonnes of rapeseed this year, a record high for both crops, the agriculture ministry said.

The wheat crop set a record compared to 7.3 million in 2013, while the rapeseed crop is a 44-year high.

Agriculture Minister Daniel Constantin said that the country's wheat yields edged up to 3.65 tonnes per hectare, and "It's been a very good year for the rapeseed as we've got the best crop since 1970."

Romania also harvested 1.74 million tonnes of barley, compared to 1.51 million tonnes in 2013.
