Azerbaijan's ministry insists on no meat price hike
The Economic Development Ministry of Azerbaijan states that no artificial price surge has been recorded at the city meat market of Baku.
The Ministry has reported that State Antimonopoly and Consumer Rights Protection Service regularly conducts monitoring at consumer market to reveal facts of artificial price increase.
"So far the Service has not revealed the facts of artificial price increase although there were cases of slight price increase. In case if the facts of artificial meat price raise are revealed measures will be taken in compliance with existing legislation under which the profit the entrepreneur received thanks to artificial price increase will be transferred to state budget", the Ministry said.
Earlier, a kilo of meat at consumer market of Baku increased. Only price for pork has remained unchanged. State Statistics Committee informs that in 2011 meat production in the country increased by 5.5% and reached 243.3 tonnes by August 1, 2011.
