Cherkizovo becomes UN vendor
Cherkizovo Group has become a United Nations vendor in late July, the company announced this month.
Cherkizovo completed its registration with Global Marketplace, the UN's official procurement portal and can now supply its products to UN programmes, including the World Food Program.
"Becoming a UN vendor not only helps Cherkizovo access new markets, but also demonstrates our commitment to corporate responsibility," said Anastasia Mikhailova, head of government and public relations at Cherkizovo Group. She also announced that the company had gone beyond basic registration and proceeded to levels one and two, giving Cherkizovo access to additional tenders run by UN organisations.
The UN Global Marketplace has been around in its current form since the 1990s. Its aim is to streamline the procurement requests of UN organisations and provide a single procurement platform for vendors.
The UN ecosystem currently includes a wide range of large international organisations, which need to procure goods and services to facilitate their projects. In addition to the World Health Organization (WHO) and World Trade Organization (WTO), the United Nations also includes agencies such as the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), the United Nations Children's Fund ( UNICEF) and the World Food Program (WFP).
"As a result of our registration on the UN platform, Cherkizovo Group can collaborate with these organizations and respond to any tenders relating to our kind of product," said Mikhailova.
The UN Global Marketplace targets companies interested in doing business with UN agencies. According to the UN website, annual turnover for all products and services exceeds US$15 billion.
