Ukraine Harvested 33.181 Million MT Grain To Aug 21

Ukraine harvested 33.181 million metric tons of grain to Aug. 21 with an average yield of 3.01 tons a hectare, an agriculture ministry official said via telephone from Kiev Monday.
 
The grain was harvested on 11.130 million hectares, which is 86% of the planned total area.
 
The wheat harvest to date was 18.121 million tons on 5.412 million hectares which is 95% of the planned total area, with an average yield of 3.35 tons a hectare.
 
Ukraine's grain harvest fell in 2003 due to adverse weather conditions to just over 20 million tons, from nearly 40 million tons in 2002.
 
The agriculture ministry expects the 2004 grain harvest at 32-35 million tons.
