Methionine prices fall amid excess availability in China

Prices of methionine moved lower during the week ending August 20.

Poultry inventories expanded during July, but feed demand from the sector remained flat due to limited feed intake and cautious mood of farmers.

Price quotes of imported dl-methionine dropped RMB0.30-0.50/kg to the range of RMB17.80-18.20/kg.

The slide in methionine prices should entice buyers to expand stocks.
