China probes into anti-dumping complaints against Brazil broiler imports
China said it is launching an anti-dumping investigation into broiler products imported from Brazil, following complaints from the domestic industry that the South American country has been selling its chicken below market value.
The group ABPA, which represents Brazilian chicken producers and exporters, denied the allegation, according to Reuters.
"We are very competitive and it is hard for the Chinese producer to understand," ABPA President Francisco Turra was quoted as saying.
"Such complaints are normal and we can defend ourselves", he added.
Brazil accounted for more than 50% of broiler product supplies to China between 2013 and 2016, Reuters said, citing a statement from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.
The ministry said the investigation is expected to end before August 18 next year and may be postponed to Feb. 18, 2019, in special cases.
