Russia's Kuban Bacon builds unique meat and dairy plant

Kuban Bacon is successfully constructing a new complex in Russia's Pavlovsk district.

They are building a meat and dairy complex with a complete production cycle from cattle breeding to the primary processing, to the total cost of RUB2.7 billion (US$0.09 billion). An agreement on the project implementation was signed between the investor and the regional administration at the International Investment Forum "Sochi-2009".

The mega-complex will include a pig breeding farm and two nucleus farms, a fattening complex, a meat and dairy cattle farm, a slaughterhouse, a fodder mill and a dairy plant. Commissioning of the facility is being phased. The project completion is scheduled for 2013. As a result, a single meat and dairy complex using its own materials for production will be built in the Kuban region. The new plant will create 400 jobs and the average annual tax revenue to the budgets of all levels will be about RUB400 million (US$13.7 billion). To date, Kuban Bacon has utilised nearly RUB1 billion (US$0.034 billion).

Austria have delivered 720 heifers of the Simmental meat and dairy breed and 612 heifers of the Holstein-Friesian dairy breed have arrived from Australia. The processing equipment includes machinery from the world's leading manufacturers - DeLaval, Sweden and Schultz, Germany.
