EU approves MAXBIOS probiotic for use in weaned piglets
The European Union has authorised MAXBIOS, a preparation of Bacillus subtilis DSM 28343, for the use in weaned piglets until August 2028.
MAXBIOS is a probiotic preparation of the spore-forming probiotic strain Bacillus subtilis DSM 28343.
Additionally, MAXBIOS has been approved as a feed additive for the process of chicken fattening in 2016 and has achieved convincing results in the improvement of gut health since then. Now, the EU follows EFSA's recommendations and authorised MAXBIOS for use in weaned piglets.
Results from several trials showed that MAXBIOS has a great potential to increase weaning weight, daily live weight gain and the feed conversion ratio in weaners. MAXBIOS is as-signed to the additive category 'zootechnical additives' as a 'gut flora stabiliser'.
