England, Wales on farm wheat stocks 1.1 million tonnes in June
England and Wales on-farm wheat stocks totalled 1.1 million tonnes at the end of June, according to data published by the UK's department for environment food and rural affairs Thursday (Aug 20).
This is more than double the 457,000 tonnes held at the end of June in 2008.
Traders estimate UK 2009 wheat production at between 14.5 million tonnes and 15 million tonnes, compared with 17.2 million tonnes in 2008.
