Russia stops poultry imports from Italy
Russia has temporarily banned poultry imports from Italy for outbreaks of bird flu.
Russia's food safety watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor [Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Plant Control] has introduced temporary restrictions on the imports of Italian poultry.
The ban was introduced on live fowl, hatching eggs, all types of unprocessed poultry products and used equipment for poultry keeping and processing.
The ban is connected with the outbreak of H5N2-type bird flu in Italy, a statement said.
Meanwhile, the agency has also rejected a poultry shipment from Germany for salmonella contamination.
