Local government in Umingan, Pangasinan, Philippines, closes poultry farm for operating without permit

The local government of Umingan, Pangasinan, the Philippines, has shut down the operations of DL Poultry Farm after it was discovered to be operating without permit.

Mayor Chris Evert Tadeo-Leynes told the Philippine News Agency on August 14 the poultry farm, located in the village of Fulgosino, does not have building, sanitary, and business permits, and the required nets around its facilities are incomplete.

She said the farm's 100,000 chickens have been removed from the area.

The local government's decision to close down the farm's operation aims to ensure that only registered businesses are operating in the town, she said.

"If they want to do business in Umingan, they should ensure that they will comply with all the necessary requirements set forth by the law and regulations. That's why I ordered strict implementation of all ordinances pertaining to poultry and piggery," Tadeo-Leynes said.

The strict implementation of these rules aims to protect the health of the people and the environment, as well as to have a level playing field.

Umingan town, located in the sixth district of Eastern Pangasinan, is a landlocked municipality with 58 villages.
