Cargill's US$44.6 million investment to expand operations at UK poultry plant

An investment of GBP35 million (US$44.6 million) will be made by Cargill to expand its poultry production facility in Wolverhampton, the UK, FoodBev Media reported.

The investment is directed towards the development of a second production line at the facility, which produces about 19,000 tonnes of breaded and battered chicken products annually for the foodservice industry. As a result, 80 jobs will also be created to support additional operations.

"We have built a sustainable chicken supply chain with our trusted partners to provide our Wolverhampton site with whole chicken breast fillets to make breaded and battered products for our loyal foodservice customers," said Jon Lauritzen, commercial director of Cargill.

"Our further investment of GBP35 million will ensure we maintain our reputation as a 'best in class' facility."
