In an emailed statement, the Federal State Statistics Service, known as Rosstat, said that Russia's production of beef, pork and poultry increased in July compared with a year earlier.
Pork output gained 34% to 104,000 tonnes and poultry production rose 1.8% to 294,000 tonnes, Rosstat said. Production of beef and meat from other cattle rose 1.8% to 14,800 tonnes.
Cattle and poultry production by live weight, which includes skin, bones and by-products, rose 9.2% to 900,000 tonnes in July compared with the year earlier, according to Rosstat.
Russia's cattle herd fell 1.9% from last year to 20.9 million head by the end of July and the number of cows dropped 1.7% to 9 million, according to the statement. The number of hogs gained 5.2% to 20.5 million and the number of sheep and goats fell 0.3% to 27.2 million.
