Ukraine approves four more Brazilian plants to export beef
Ukraine has approved four more Brazilian meat processing plants to export beef to the country, the Brazilian Meatpackers Association (Abrafrigo) said.
Two of the facilities are based in the south-eastern Brazilian state of São Paulo and the other two operate in the northern states of Pará and Rondônia.
In 2010, Brazil exported 10,300 tonnes of beef to Ukraine, with revenue at US$38.3 million. This volume represented 0.8% of Brazilian beef shipments last year.
Abrafrigo President Péricles Salazar said that the association is in talks to arrange for more Brazilian plants to be authorised to sell beef to East Europe, as well as to countries in Southeast Asia and Middle East.
