US livestock market fundamental data recap
A summary of fundamental data for beef and pork markets appears below. Data are as of Monday (August 17).
The US Department of Agriculture reported the choice grade boxed beef cutout value Monday up US$1.09 at US$142.38, and select was up US$0.44 at US$135.14.
The choice/select spread was plus US$7.24 compared with plus US$6.59 the previous day. The number of loads reported for fabricated cuts was 226 for trimmings and coarse grinds was 65.
The latest operating margin index for beef packers was plus US$51.45 per head, compared with plus US$49.90 the previous day.
The latest Chicago Mercantile Exchange feeder cattle cash index quote was up US$0.26 at US$100.74.
The USDA's estimated Monday's cattle slaughter at 125,000 head.
