China VC: Export prices move lower (week ended Aug 13, 2023)

Prices o vitamin C were mainly stable in the domestic market amid slow sales. Nonetheless, export prices moved lower due to the recent depreciation of renminbi.
In the local market, 99% raw powder vitamin C prices stayed in the range of RMB16-19.50/kg. Prices of 93% coated products softened to RMB17-21/kg. whereas those of 35% phosphorylated ones remained in the range of RMB11.90-14.80/kg.
Export prices of vitamin C (99% raw powder) decreased to US$2.20/kg whereas those of 98% coated products fell to US$2.45/kg. Prices of 35% phosphorylated vitamin C dipped to US$1.65/kg.
Vitamin C demand is expected to improve with hog prices surging 24% over the past several weeks. However, with supplies ample, the upward scope of the market will be limited.
