HQSM completes construction of new feed mill
Â
Â
HQ Maritime Industries, Inc., a leader in all natural integrated aquaculture and aquatic product processing, has completed the construction of its new feed mill and that the mill is now fully operational.Â
The new mill was brought online following months of quality and efficiency testing in order to optimise production and to ensure that the mill met or exceeded the highest global HACCP and ISO standards as well as the European regulation on feed hygiene FAMI-QS.Â
Buhler, a technology group and global market leader in food processing, designed and manufactured the equipment that was chosen for the feed mill.Â
The plant will add omega 3 to the fish feeds through all-natural algae meal to significantly increase omega-3 levels in fresh water inland farmed tilapia. The feed formulation will supplement feed without the use of fish meal or fish oil to alleviate the pressures on wild catch of fish.
Improved feed conversion rates at competitive pricing allow HQSM to provide the ideal feed for its operations in Hainan, while significantly improving the efficiency of the farms. The extruded floating feed produced by the mill reduces waste, and, in turn, improves the feed conversion ratios of the farms.Â
Â
The feed mill will allow HQSM to tap into the highly lucrative specialty aquaculture feeds market, servicing other China based and international aquaculture operations, said Norbert Sporns, president and CEO. Â
HQSM is an integrated aquaculture and aquatic product processing company with operations based in the environmentally pristine island province of Hainan in China's South Sea.
