EU approves 30 additional Vietnamese seafood exporters

Additional 30 seafood firms in Vietnam have been permitted by EU to export their products, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers.

This has resulted to a total of 330 enterprises allowed to ship their products to the EU, thanks to upgraded establishments and improved measures on production and material source management.

Earlier, Japan, China, the Republic of Korea, and Russia allowed more Vietnamese seafood producers to export to their countries, bringing the total number of domestic exporters to receive permission to 448 in Japan, 444 in China, 442 in the Korea, and 30 in Russia.

Vietnamese seafood has churned in revenues of almost US$2.2 billion in the first seven months of the 2009 after a drop due to the global recession.

The leading market is the EU, followed by Japan.
