Export price of Norwegian fresh salmon sags in week ending Aug. 12

According to the latest figures released by Statistics Norway, the export price of fresh or chilled farmed salmon during the period Aug. 6 - 12 reached NOK57.33 per kilogramme, down 0.2% from the previous week's NOK57.44 and down 3.7% from the same week period last year.
The export price of frozen salmon, on the other hand, was NOK58.76 during the week Aug. 6 - 12, down 8.5% from NOK64.20/kg in the period July 30 – Aug. 5 and down 6.1% from Aug. 6 - 12, 2017.
Export volume of fresh or chilled salmon in the same period was 18,978 tonnes, up 8.7% from the previous week's 17,466 tonnes and up 9.2% from the same period last year.
Norway exported 395 tonnes of frozen salmon in the period Aug. 6 - 12, up 34.4% from the previous week's 294 tonnes and up 102.6% from last year.
Salmon is Norway's most important species for seafood exports.
