Scotland's salmon industry fishing for business in Aquanor 2007

 

 

Scotland's salmon industry is hoping AquaNor 2007, held in Trondheim, Norway this week would yield greater business opportunities for the industry.

 

Held between 14 and 17 August 2007 and attended by all the major players in the salmon farming business, the event covers the whole of the aquaculture supply chain including fish feed development, fish health, quality assurance, research, training, processing and others. More than 20,000 visitors from over 50 countries attended the event.

 

Scotland is the third largest salmon producer in the world, generating a worldwide retail value of over GBP1 billion.

 

Representatives from Scottish Development International (SDI), Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and Scottish Salmon Producers' Organisation (SSPO) hobnobbing with representatives from salmon companies around the world to discuss the sustainable growth of the sector.

 

The meetings are part of a strategy designed to help companies meet the increasing UK and international demand for quality salmon products from Scotland.

 

The event featured 300 exhibitors representing more than 600 manufacturers and suppliers from around the world.
