US aquaculture center may receive US$7.5 million in funding
Highlighting US commitment towards aquaculture, The National Center for Cool and Cold Water aquaculture could receive US$7.5 million for research purposes if the 2008 Senate Agriculture Appropriations bill passes.
The funding would help support advanced programmes at the fish research centre.
The programme was proposed by US Sen. Robert C. Byrd, who in the past added more than US$15.9 million to previous appropriations bills for aquaculture development.
The centre would conduct the nation's most advanced research programmes on the efficient raising and harvesting of cool and cold water fish, such as arctic char and rainbow trout.
