Punjab, Pakistan livestock minister met delegation from Pakistan Poultry Association
A delegation of the Pakistan Poultry Association led by its chairman, Muhammad Nusrat, on August 8 met Punjab, Pakistan Livestock Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani.
According to official sources , the delegation consisted of representatives of Punjab Poultry Association, Poultry Traders Association, and Broiler Farmers Association.
During the meeting, chicken supply chain and prices were reviewed. Different options came under discussion with regard to mechanism to determine chicken rates.
Kirmani said the provision of relief to citizens was top priority of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. According to Kirmani, Nawaz wanted availability of chicken at low price in the market so that the common man can purchase it.
He added that Punjab's government intends to determine the price of chicken after holding consultation with all stakeholders. The government is prepared to provide a 15-20% profit margin on the cost of production of chickens.
Kirmani said the government would not only provide protection to the poultry industry but also ensures the provision of facilities and the ease of doing business.
The minister also directed the livestock secretary to decide applicable formula or proposals with stakeholders to determine chicken price so that a report can be presented to Punjab's Chief Minister for final approval.
