Industry on coronavirus watch

Batavia, NY – The industry is closely watching the spread of Coronavirus. At the moment, China has shut down a terminal at one of their most important ports to contain the virus – and overall ocean freight congestion is worsening (more on that later). In the USA, new cases are the highest level since Feb, and it is affecting demand. In the last two weeks, Apple Mobility Data has shown a modest slowing in national travel. Data from foodservice technology company Open Table shows sales are no longer improving at full-service restaurants, especially in Florida and Texas – the two states with the highest number of cases.
