Russian-based companiesto increase beef exports from Mongolia
 

 

As part of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) and Tomsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a business meeting on was held on August 14.

 

The meeting, which was held for the fourth time, took place at MNCCI and discussed opportunities in expanding cooperation and increasing export volumes between the two countries.


General Secretary of MNCCI, E. Oyuntegsh said, "We are mostly exporting beef and horse meat to Russia. The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry reported that Russian import tariff on meat and value-added tax will be raised to 70% from January 2019 onwards."


"We believe that the heads of our two countries will meet at Eastern Economic Forum that will be held in September and will an agreement on reducing tariffs on meat export and establishing a free trade zone," he added.


Representatives from Tomsk city presented activities of their companies, business opportunities and expressed willingness to cooperate with Mongolia entities in the supply of wheat, seam, pastry and cabel.


"The two Chambers of Commerce and Industry have been developing mutually beneficial cooperation for many years. At the meeting with the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry held on August 14, we expressed our interest to import beef from Mongolia," A.N. Belyaev, Head of Foreign Relations Department of Tomsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry, shared.


He also noted, "Although there are barriers in import and export of meat and meat products, the issue is in consideration of the Governments of the two countries."
