European poultry campaign strengthens EU-Philippines trade ties

The European Union and the Embassy of Poland are strengthening their commitment to enhancing trade relations with the Philippines by launching a three-year campaign titled "European Poultry – From Our Farms to Your Table."

This campaign aims to highlight the premium quality, safety, and sustainability of European poultry products.

The launch took place on August 7 in Manila, bringing together diplomats, industry leaders, and media representatives.

Speaking to a crowd of food industry stakeholders, Dariusz Goszczyński, President of the National Poultry Council – Chamber of Commerce, emphasized that EU poultry production is regulated by some of the most rigorous standards in the world.

"Our farm-to-fork system ensures that every product exported to the Philippines is safe, traceable, and produced with respect for the environment and animal welfare," he said. "This is how we build trust, and trust is the foundation of trade."

Kamila Cicherska-Borońska, quality certification expert, stressed that the EU's internationally recognized certifications — including HACCP, GMP/GHP, ISO 22000, IFS Food, BRC, and Halal — are more than compliance tools; they are proof of quality and a gateway to market access.

"These certifications tell Filipino importers and consumers that our products meet the highest global benchmarks, giving them the confidence to choose European poultry over other suppliers," she explained.

The campaign's participation in WOFEX Manila 2025 from August 6–9 serves as a central platform for connecting with importers, distributors, and the HoReCa (Hotel, Restaurant & Catering) sector. Through B2B networking sessions, industry briefings, and promotional activities, the EU aims to lay the groundwork for stronger commercial partnerships.

Another highlight of the campaign is its commitment to knowledge exchange. Selected Filipino industry representatives will be invited to visit Europe to witness poultry production processes firsthand — from advanced farming facilities to processing plants that adhere to strict safety protocols. These visits aim to strengthen mutual understanding and create long-term business opportunities.

By aligning quality assurance, ethical farming, and sustainable production with the needs of the Philippine market, the EU is positioning European poultry as a trusted and valuable trade partner.
